Hello! As some of you know, I'm doing a 12k assault course on 15th March 2015, to raise money for a local charity called Levenshulme Good Neighbours. The obstacles include crawling through an ice pit, running through electric wires, and something called a "stench trench," which sounds just delightful.
A bit more about the charity: Levenshulme Good Neighbours are a community group who match local volunteer befrienders with older people who have become isolated in the community. Volunteers support older people in a wide range of social, emotional and practical ways. That can include visiting a housebound person who is experiencing loneliness, helping people with limited mobility get out into the community as well as escorting people to a range of social events, fun activities and health appointments that they would otherwise be unable to attend. It's a small charity that has a big impact, both on the lives of the older people it helps, and on the volunteers. I've been a volunteer now for almost a year, and it's been a really fantastic experience. They're a very small organisation, and any donations they receive would genuinely make a massive difference. The money raised would go towards the cost of purchasing wheelchairs and walking aids to set up a short term equipment loan scheme for older people around Levenshulme. Thanks for your support! Naomi x
