My Volunteering Trip To Sri Lanka!

Hi all! 👋

My name is Kristen and I am 17 years old, currently in my 3rd year of my Travel and Tourism studies! I am aiming to potentially accumulate the sufficient funds to help towards an incredible, eye opening opportunity that I have been faced with!😊

Recently, I was given the incredible opportunity to go on a 2 week volunteering trip to Sri Lanka beginning 1st August 2020, to teach English at various schools in the local district and surrounding villages of Ambalangoda, to underprivileged children from lower income families as well as young buddhist monks who have been affected by the tsunami in Sri Lanka, who otherwise would receive very minimal or even no education at all!📚

Along the way I will get to learn and develop my knowledge on the culture and way of life in Sri Lanka and experience it first hand, venture out into the local community to take part in conservation projects and work on the sustainable development of the local area, as well as planning and delivering interactive, fun and engaging lessons to give the less fortunate children of Ambalangoda, the same opportunities as their more wealthy peers so they too have the chance to develop their ability to speak English and have a brighter future 🎓

It is within my great interest to do this as it is something that i feel extremely passionate about and would love to open my eyes to a different side of life and give back to those who need it most, in a state of desperation. I have previously volunteered and found it to be an extremely rewarding experience so It would be an absolute honour to work with the less fortunate and know that I am making a great impact to the children’s community, lifestyles, education and future as a whole💗

I, myself have worked very hard to accumulate and contribute a large sum of money towards my trip so far. In the time leading up to my departure I am still working plenty of hours to save up as much as possible to put towards my fees. i am by no means expecting to accumulate the full asked amount in donations but a breakdown of the costs are as follows :
