My home, a paradise that I don’t want to leave someday

Hello Dear People,

My name’s Floriane and I’m aged 49.

I live in the house where I was born in a beautiful little French town in Burgundy. This house had been purchased in the late 1800s by my great-grandmother.

My grandfather and his brother were born here. Several years later, they got married and their spouses came to live there. Their children were born there, and I was also born there.

This house or should I say home has witnessed so many events, most of them were happy ones, some of them were sad ones.

It is a simple home, not classified as any form of heritage, but this home has a family history, the story of my family. It is a place that is very dear to me beyond description.

Years have passed, today this house is the property of my aunt, and I live with her. My aunt has been retired for 12 years. I work as a freelance translator but it’s not a steady job and we’re definitely not the richest kind.

My aunt wants to donate me the house so that it can continue to be in the family when she’ll pass away (many years ahead I hope), but there’s an amount involved in this donation that I can’t afford despite the fact that I work : 10,000 euros.

This is why I’m starting this campaing today. To raise money to help me « pay » for this house. Somehow it may sound unbelievable to be born in a house and still having to pay for it once you inherit it, but that’s the way it works in France…

I know how much it is important for most people to have a home, especially if this home has been in your family for so many years. I don’t want to see this end someday, my home is my universe.
