My grandmother is a remarkable woman with more strength than I've ever seen in my life. She has been through so much but it has never killed her spirit. My mother had me at a very young age, and I loved her with all my heart despite all the mistakes she made. Our lives were very unpredictable all the time, we moved a lot, went to so many different schools, witnessed many of our mother's failed relationships, but through it all, my gran was the one constant in our lives. She was always there for us whenever we needed her. When my mother was murdered by my stepfather, it was the most traumatic thing that ever happened to us. My mother and my gran were always the centre of my universe as our fathers were never in the picture. We were broken, crushed, but one thing we didn't have to fear was having nowhere to go because there was no question about it. My gran took my 4 younger sisters and I with open arms and loved and cared for us the best she could. Even though she could barely get by financially, family is everything to her. My gran is no stranger to hard work. And has worked as a catering manager all her life.. Then in 2016 everything took a turn for the worst. The school where she was employed decided to end the contract and take on a new company, leaving my gran unemployed, with no source of income. Then after waiting months for an appointment at the government hospital, we were given devastating news that she has stage 3 endometrial cancer. It's been a huge blow and after her 4th chemo treatment, she is extremely unwell. She also looks after my uncle's 1 year old baby cause he is unfit as a parent, as well as the mother. She has done so much for us, and I only wish that she didn't have to worry about where she is going to get money for the rent anf groceries every month because I just want her to get better. She is everything to me and it kills me that she is going through this and that I'm not in a position to help more. I would give absolutely anything to take away all her problems and her pain
