My Dad Needs Surgery

Hi everyone,

As some of you know , my dad needs to go for surgery he was complaining about pain in his hip and scrotum so he went to a doctor that referred him to a Radiologist who then referred him to a Orthopedic surgeon which he saw on the 9th of March 2020.

The Orthopedic surgeon said that he must urgently get a hip replacement, and the cyst in the scrotum is also a matter of urgency.

My dad asked if he could postpone the surgery but the surgeon suggested that he should do it ASAP and the pain is currently unbearable for him. It kills me to see him in this state as he used to be a baseball couch as well as a scout for Marines, and it’s his passion in life to help kids to improve their skills in baseball in South Africa.

The Big Challenge :

The medical aid is not covering the full cost of the surgery and hospital stay , and before he can be admitted he must pay a contribution upfront and after the surgery the amounts that wasn’t paid in full by the medical aid we need to pay.

These have been estimated at around a minimum of an additional ZAR 50 000 but may exceed this amount.

My dad is one of the strongest people I know ; his
never showed me when his hurt or in pain and yesterday for the first time I saw him in pain when he bent over to reach for something;he struggled to get back up and I could saw the slight flinch as he did ,he did try hide it but it’s just to much to bare.

My biological dad walked out on me and my mom when I was born and my step dad (well he is technically my real dad ) stepped up and filled his role, his always helped me to the best of his ability I’m trying to do the same by selling my car on Tuesday, it’s still not enough to cover the surgery; I hate to ask people for financial help but at this point it’s just getting to hard to take it on because last year we lost our house.

He needs this operation.
