Campaign Story
The Situation
Outside the bustling city of Santo Domingo, Ecuador, lies a small rural community of farm workers whose children are in desperate need of artistic and cultural resources. Their academic needs are taken care of at the small neighborhood public school, but they lack music and art classes. Every child deserves access to a musical education, and we believe that we can deliver that with your help!
The Dream
Starting with an in-school musical education program for the students, we hope to gain the support to extend the project to include forming a band of interested pupils. The idea is to replace their idle time after school with artistic enrichment. This neighborhood has no creative outlets to offer the children, and we want to change that. Help us bring art and culture to an underserved population of eager learners!
Who We Are/What We Do
La Finca Kuruksetra is an environmentally sustainable farming project spearheaded by lifelong local, Christian Peralta. The project at the finca is about living sustainably and healthfully. While this begins with food, Christian believes that culture, art, and community are just as vital to the living sustainably. He takes a ground-up approach in everything he does, from the literal seeds he plants on his farm to the artistic seeds he wishes to plant in the hearts of the local school children. Christian hosts and sponsors community events ranging from sweat lodges on his land to mural painting parties at the neighborhood school to fund raising events for creating a library for the local children. At his farm Christian hosts volunteers from around the world who help him share a sustainable lifestyle with the community.
Our Goals
All funds raised will go to one of two places:
1. The salary for an experienced and talented music teacher. Just $70 will pay for a month´s worth of music classes.
2. Buying second hand instruments for the students. We are big believers in recycling, and that includes our tools and instruments! The price for a second hand guitar can be as low as $30 to $40, so even small donations go a long way!
We are also grateful to receive donations of second hand instruments, as well as volunteer hours for any skilled individuals who are excited about sharing music with a special group of deserving kids! If you are interested in volunteering, Christian will happily host you at his farm, and you can be a part of a beautiful eco project!
For details on volunteering or donating instruments, please contact Christian directly at [email protected] or if you are local in Ecuador you can call 0983222126.
Every child matters, and every dollar counts!

Grateful that you made my Christmas shopping so meaningful and easy. My son and daughter in law are both musicians and not into accumulating more "stuff" so this is the perfect gift. Love to all.
