Moochi

Moochi, a 3 weeks old kitten, suffers from pectus excavatum. His condition requires placement of a customised external splint and sutures will be placed around the ribs to secure it. This procedure requires general anesthesia.

Without treatment, his condition can progress. The abnormal alignment of the cartilage in his ribs if they worsen, can cause compression and breathing difficulties, of which if severe enough can become life-limiting.

We had consulted Dr. Liew from the Singapore Veterinary Animal Clinic about this procedure. An estimated cost as advised by Dr. Liew for this procedure is about $2300-2500 and we need to do it as soon as possible. This does not include the cost for echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), which cost around $300-$400. This is to check for any other congenital malformations, if there is, this will increase the risk of general anesthesia.
