As one of the largest rescue, rehabilitation and rescue sanctuaries in South Africa, Kitty and Puppy Haven, a register Non Profit Company and Public Beneficiary Organisation has been operational for 17 years. Our doors are open for any injured, abused and neglected animals that are in need of assistance and veterinary treatment ,to get them back to optimal health before finding homes for them. We are a no kill sanctuary and house over 300 rescues at any given time. Every animal that leaves our shelter is healthy, fully vaccinated and sterilized.
Now with Summer approaching, we are already inundated with kittens and puppies needing to be bottle fed. This is financially and emotionally stressful, not to mention how time intensive this process actually is.
We desperately need to increase our stock of kitten and Puppy milk as each litter generally goes through a minimum of 1.5kg per 3 weeks. This is used to raise bottle babies from 1 day old to 4 weeks of age when they can be weened onto solids.
The cost of kitten and Puppy milk is a huge burden to the sanctuary, because of the volumes used. After bottle feeding for an average of 4 weeks, the babies are then weened onto solids. At 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks they are vaccinated and dewormed. They are then sterilized and put up for adoption.
The monthly running costs of the sanctuary average between R180k to R200k.
Any assistance is appreciated as we rely solely on public donations and receive no assistance from any government agencies.
