Campaign Story
Let me tell you what little I know about Mike Halligan. I have asked some of my home building friends and others to help me tell you. I met him on a Habitat for Humanity build in Lockhart about five years ago. The only times I saw him frown was in concentration or upon hearing of someone else’s trouble. Otherwise a delightful smile was to be seen on his face. He is a stalwart friend and a good kind man who is fighting a battle against cancer.
It is a stage 4 form of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma called Mantle Cell Lymphoma, diagnosed in May; chemo started in June. His 3rd round of chemo started on the 28th of July and the chemo is expected to continue for about 5 more months.
That fight seems to be going OK but he has yet to be declared disabled. Mike is the breadwinner for himself, his brother and daughter and had to stop working for the last 3 months and as well as be off work for about the next year. While there is some medical insurance it is not nearly enough. There is, however, a great need for financial support for his uncovered expenses like mortgage, food, clothing, and electric as well as a multitude of other costs associated with daily life. This will go on for some time as he will be off work for at least 6 months after the end of his chemo.

Mike is an all around great guy, very talented, and a joy to be around. If anyone needs a helping hand, Mike is always there to help far beyond what is asked of him. He has been a blessing to our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity since its founding. He has been paying it forward, and now could use a bit of help. Thank God for people like Mike.
