Melanoma awareness

Hi,  I am 48 and used to love to go on beach holidays and get a tan. I am telling you my story because I wish I had been made more aware of what effects the sun can have on our life.   Getting a tan made me feel good and look great with my blonde hair etc; until one day when I had a small local operation to remove a mole, it was no bigger than a pea.  A week later I was told I had a malignant melanoma and it was deep, probably affecting my lymph nodes.

i thought my world had ended and my first thought was for my family.  I want to firstly raise awareness and raise the profile of skin cancer but more importantly Melanoma in the UK, we often take the view that we don't get hot enough summers to do any damage to our skin, that's what I thought until I was diagnosed. By helping me to raise money for Melanoma research in the UK it will raise the profile of this killer cancer which is on the rise here in the  UK.  Currently apart from surgery to remove melanoma there is still no specific cure or treatment.  Help me to raise money for this extremely worthwhile cause and to raise awareness of Melanoma. Thank you so much for supporting this cause and awareness campaign.  Hopefully by raising the profile you can help me to raise money for more research into finding a cure.
