This summer from the 17th of August I will be traveling to Ghana to volunteer in local hospitals to gain valuable first-hand experience of healthcare in low income countries and witness a range of illnesses and cases we may never come across in the UK. These hospitals are very poorly resourced and understaffed so any extra help and care goes a long way.
I will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the hospital from observing the doctors and nurses to a more practical hands on care. This will all increase my knowledge and understanding of medical practice and help me in my application to apply to medicine in the future.
This is a self-funded experience I have chosen to take on but would be extremely grateful for any form of donations which would go towards;
- Donations to the local hospitals to increase resources for simple products such as disposable gloves, surgical gloves, cotton wool swabs
- Donations to local nurses being sent back to school to enhance her skill sets including books
Please share and thank you for your kind donations!
