MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR MARA’S CANCER TREATMENT

Our youngest sister, Mara, 28 years old was diagnosed with stage 1 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the tongue (Cancer of the tongue) last December 2017. Surgery was the first line of treatment but since the location of the mass was in her tongue we opted not to undergo surgery rather do natural treatment for her. Our family is working so hard to give her the best possible care that she needs.

Unfortunately, the natural treatment which we opted was not effective on her. Our family decided to send her to China for advance treatment as her condition progressed from stage 1 to stage 3 (Cancer of the tongue with the involvement of the tongue muscles). This condition severely suffered her as she has difficulties with eating, sleeping and speaking too.

Mara's health insurance has covered most of her hospital bills in the Philippines but she needed more help with her treatment in China. She went to China (Modern Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou) on the first week of March 2018 hoping for a better cure for her condition without undergoing surgery as we want a better quality of life. Her cancer treatment includes immunotherapy, targeted drugs, and interventional therapy.
This treatment already costs 1.5 Million Pesos in Philippine currency or maybe more depending on her response to the said treatment.

As of now, she is responding well to the treatment. The mass on her tongue gradually decreased in size as per her latest CT scan. We are praying and hoping that she will continuously respond to the current treatment and beat cancer.
