Hello!

I’m Cynthia, a Medical student from Hong Kong. I will be working as a volunteer on a Medical project organised by the International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) in Ho Chi Minh City this summer. This is my first time stepping out of one of the busiest public hospitals in Hong Kong and go volunteering abroad. I can’t wait to meet the local medical professionals and patients and help them as much as I could. As a student, the fees for this program and flights are quite expensive. I would greatly appreciate any donation amount offered.

While volunteering on this project, I will be shadowing local doctors and nurses in a local hospital and assist them with some basic routine jobs. This will be a great opportunity to develop my medical knowledge as well as gain an insight into the Vietnamese healthcare system. In Hong Kong, doctors are so busy that they have long working hours, but they have to rush through consultations in several minutes due to long patient waiting hours. It is usual to see temporary beds filling up the corridors and every available space in peak demand period. The local hospital in Ho Chi Minh will definitely give me a very different taste of how medical healthcare system can be like.

I am so excited for this unique opportunity! Thank you so much for your support and time!
