Campaign Story
I have been selected to volunteer in Antigua, Guatemala for two weeks in the summer of 2020 to work on a medical project with IVHQ! During my time, I will be living in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua and working alongside local doctors and nurses to provide healthcare and medical attention in the communities where it is limited and/or unaccessible. Guatemala's health system has the fourth highest rate in the world of chronic malnutrition, poor funding of local health, and lacks specialists in the rural areas. Using the knowledge and skills I have gained from my first year in nursing school, I will be able to provide care to this community as well as broaden my scope of nursing practice. I am asking for donations to help with the registration fees, the program fees, and travel/airline fees. With the intensity and strict scheduling of nursing school, I have been struggling to find a balance between my studies and work, making income smaller than expected. While I am still finding any extra time I can to work, a donation as small as $1 would be greatly appreciated!
