Media’s Medical and Hospitalisation fees

Hi there just some introduction about Media(9yrs old Labrador) and me. I adopted Media around 1 year ago and she has been my shadow since. She sleeps next to me , she follows me every where in the house even when I am using the toilet.Media is a kind and friendly dog that everyone who met her once would fall in love with her.

Last Friday (14 July)when I came back from my part-time work. I realized that she was panting a lot and with close examination, her stomach was very bloated and very hard, my training in K9 was where we were trained to look out for these symptoms as it might be GDV(twisted stomach with bloating) which is very fatal. I called the vet and brought her in for an emergency check-up, the vet took an X-ray and confirmed it was GDV, and when into emergency surgery that night .when the vet opened her up they found out that besides the GDV she had a ruptured spleen. Hence, she had a splenectomy too. The vet was unable to conclude the cause of the GDV and ruptured spleen.

She is doing well after the surgery considering what she has been through. Dr. Ng from Vetmedic (Sembawang)was kind and understood that the surgery bill was not small and gave us a 5% discount. After that the total bill for the surgery was around $8000.After that media had to be hospitalized observations just in case of any post-surgery complications. Media was transferred to vet for life(Tanjong Katong,15 July). Media’s recovery was great there too, the vet just have some concerns with her heart arrhythmias which were common after a splenectomy. by Tuesday (18 July )the vet said everything looks good she had no more heart arrhythmias and she got discharged and I brought her home. She is still the same media the media that follows me round the house where ever I go. The total bill for the hospitalization was around $3300.

The bill is a big financial burden for my family as my mom is semi-retired and I am just working part-time in FnB. Hence, any help will be greatly appreciated. I thank you all for your kind assistance.All invoice for the medical bill is in the fundraiser photo.
