We are inviting South African companies and organizations to register tag teams consisting of any number of employees/ clients representing your brand in the 2019 Mandela Day 101-hour quizathon celebrating Madiba's 101st birthday next year.

The quizathon will kick off at noon on Sunday 14^th July 2019 and run non-stop, around the clock over four days until noon on Mandela Day, Thursday 18 ^th July 2019.

Guinness World Record:

An application has been submitted to register this event as an official Guinness World Record attempt. (NR 180808150622lq application)

Corporate Challenge:

On Mandela Day, the quizathon will turn into a corporate team challenge where the top contestants from each company will compete against each others for various prizes - and the Mandela Day Quizathon Crown/ floating trophy.

Celebrities/Media:

We will be approaching popular TV radio and personalities; rugby, cricket and other sports stars and celebrities to present some of quiz questions at various intervals. We are confident that this will attract media attention and hope to grow this initiative into an annual charity event in commemoration of the 67 years Nelson Mandela sacrificed for our country.

The quiz categories are:

· Sport and recreation

· Music and the movies

· History and the world

· Nelson Mandela's legacy

Prizes:

· Helicopter coastal flips from the Waterfront to Houtbay and back (30 winners)

· Cruise in Table Bay on a Pirate Boat (30 winners)

· Seafood dinner at the V&A Waterfront (30 winners)

Practice:

We will be holding regular practice quizzes at community venues open to the participating companies at no charge

Human Resources Bonus:

Corporates entering the event may also book us to host at least one in-house quiz at the workplace or other team-building/training venue in the Peninsula also at no charge. Questions could be customised in line with your training material if required.

Donations and Proceeds:

We are hoping to attract donations of R6,700 or more per organization. All proceeds will be used to run the quizathon and fund our ongoing Schools Math Quiz program which targets marginalized schools in rural and disadvantaged communities.

Credentials:

Our schools program is supported and run in collaboration with the Actuarial Society of South Africa, The SA Foundation for Mathematics and the Department of Basic Education. All references available on request.
