Background

For many years I have been asking myself, "How can I use my gifts and talents to create the most benefit possible in our world?" I am convinced that THIS IS IT! 

I am a mother, an artist and a communication coach. I have been studying and practicing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for over 7 years. When I first began my study, my relationship to my ex-husband was horrible. We could not talk to each other for more than 10 minutes without turning it in to a fight ending in upset and tears. My relationship with my 10-year-old son was super-challenged too. He was throwing fits every day and saying he hated me and wanted to live with his dad. I created these tools out of seeing the benefit of NVC, but not having the time or money to attend. I was longing for an easy way to learn it at home, as needed, without all the awkward lingo that is traditionally taught in NVC 4-Step process. So I created these cards.

Using these cards empowered me to radically turn around my relationship with my son. He is now a teenager and we have an amazing mother/son relationship. These tools have also been vital in supporting me to heal old and painful hurts with my ex-husband (who is now my best friend) and create greater ease and harmony with our blended family including step-moms, step-siblings, and extended family. I am delighted to say that I have ease and harmony in all my relations. Can you imagine ease and harmony in all your relations? What would be possible if you had that? What would be possible if the world had that?

I am eager to share these tools so that others may duplicate my results. These cards are so easy to use, a 10-year-old could teach it. My goal is to empower anyone and everyone (especially other mothers) to use these cards to develop and teach skills in emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, character growth and the ability to view life's challenges through the eyes of opportunity. 

Why raise funds?

I have hand made and sold several dozen sets of cards. This is great because it gives me confidence in my product, but it is time and labor intensive to hand make decks. And handmade cards just lack the elegance of factory made cards. It's time for an upgrade!

The money will go towards printing my first edition of this set of cards. If extra funds are raised, they will go towards professional printing and publication of the accompanying workbook (with teaching as activities that guide you to make the most use of these cards) and upgrades to the online learning system that is currently in phase 1 testing.

What is Nonviolent Communication? 

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is based on the principles of nonviolence-- the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart. NVC begins by assuming that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs. People who practice NVC have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution.
