For many years Luke's dream has been to live aboard a boat. He was able to purchase an old boat, a Marine Trader. Though it needed some work, he loved the classic lines of the old trawler, and determined to restore it to its former glory, little by little. Living his dream, Luke piloted Change of Pace from Maryland to Florida, through the intercoastal waterways, experiencing the trip of a lifetime. Loving the serenity of living on the water, surrounded by the beauty of nature, Luke traveled to various coastal locations of Florida, meeting many interesting people and making new friendships that promise to last a lifetime.

After a few years of living aboard his boat, Luke returned to Maryland and dry docked Change of Pace to begin much needed repairs and restorations. He spent every moment of his free time repairing the hull and making other repairs. Two years later, he began preparations to have the boat put back into the water, but was devastated to learn that the boat's engine needed major repairs, and should be replaced. His dream of living aboard was further complicated by the financial hardships of several family members who now rely on him for support, limiting his ability to add much money to his engine fund. His dream of living aboard his boat now seems almost out of reach as he estimates it will cost nearly $10K for the engine to be rebuilt, and around $20K for a new engine.

If you would like to help Luke get this lovely old boat back on the water so that he can live his dream once again, please donate to this fund. He is a good soul, always willing to help others, especially those in need, without expecting anything in return. Having dyslexia has made life challenging, but he does the best he can and keeps trying, no matter what. In his words, “I just put my boots on every day.”
