During my time volunteering in Romania with a small team of volunteers, we received a generous donation of sorted clothing, shoes and bedding from refugee aid networks within the UK and financial support from CLC to purchase food and hygiene items locally. SInce returning to the UK I have been in regular contact with the network of volunteers back in Iasi, Romania who confirm aid lists with me.
With the assistance of R.A.F.T ( refugee aid from Taunton) I have one pallet of aid ready to send to projects supporting homeless, vulnerable young people, Roma communities and deprived villages with aid that will be distributed by local volunteers. I have also received donations from my local community and church groups that I need to raise funding to send.
G.R.A.C.E ( Greenwich refugee aid clothing essentials) have kindly offered to palletise and forklift our donations from their facility. Transportation of 2 pallets of aid will cost us £350 to reach Romania in 2 weeks of sending.
We aim to get the initial 2 pallets sent out at the end of October and hope to continue co-ordinating 2 pallets of aid every 3 months to support each project in Romania
