I was adopted from Liberia about 13 years ago. A couple of months ago I left my daughter, job, school, and home in Minnesota to travel to Liberia to marry my childhood sweetheart. My trip to Liberia, and the wedding, were wonderful. A few weeks after the wedding I returned to my mother's home in Las Vegas where I planned to find a job, establish a home, and earn the $420 Immigration application fee and bring my husband to the United States. I was in Liberia for about 2 months,
My family in Las Vegas purchased a ticket for me to fly to Minnesota and reunite with my 4 year-old daughter and prepare my car for my step-father to join us to help drive back to Las Vegas. When I went to get my car it was not there. My college roommate used the car without my permission and parked it illegally. The car was towed away. Because I was in Liberia I did not see or respond to any notices from the tow company. My car was sold by the towing company to satisfy the towing and storage charges.
I am a third-year college student and a hard worker, but I still owe $6,000 on a car I no longer have. If I don't pay for the car to keep my credit in good order I may not be able to find work or be accepted to rent an apartment in Las Vegas. I am asking for help to pay off the debt on a car I no longer own, purchase another car for my daughter and I, and raise the $420 Immigration application fee to bring my new husband to me as soon as possible.
