Update 4/3/16

Still in Physical Therapy and working hard to get to the next step in this long process.

I am now facing a problem with my fills - the solution is starting to bump up against my port, which is still being used for chemo and blood work. My veins were bad before the chemotherapy that they would collapse in half the time of a normal person. If I didn't have the port for the chemotherapy I know all of this would be much worse.

I had an ECHO done last Friday, which the doctors do every 9 weeks during the entire cancer treatment (although this last one ended up being about 14 weeks - LOL).

My hair is coming back, very slowly. It is completely grey and curly. After attending a seminar offered by the Firefly Sisterhood (and being the only one in the room wearing a hat yet), and talking with several women that are currently going through breast cancer - I finally got the courage to go out in public with my hair the way it is. (I still use the wig when going to more social gatherings) Firefly Sisterhood is an organization that matches Guides that had breast cancer previously to those currently having treatment, using whatever are their biggest issues they are facing. My Guide has been incredibly supportive by listening to me cry at times, answered a lot of questions that I had regarding various treatments and options.

Every single donation that I have received has help me and is appreciated more than you will ever know. I am battling with the mortgage company still, along with my credit card companies. Having to retell the story daily of why I am unable to pay gets so tiring and depressing. I am trying so hard to keep a positive attitude throughout this ordeal but it is very difficult at times.

I am blessed to have friends and family that have helped me out financially so far. Thank you!!

Blessings to all of you

Update

I have been in Physical Therapy for several weeks now to regain range of motion in both my arms. As of right now, I have about 85% back in my right arm but only about 45% in my left. I've been doing the exercises a lot more than required as I want to be able to get full range back as quickly as possible. In doing so, I messed up my left shoulder a bit doing too many of the stretches. I am unable to start radiation until I am able to hold both of arms under my head for the duration of the radiation treatments. Rehab will be after PT is completed.

I have not been able to get on any type of social security disability yet. I applied for SSD and SSI back in September, I just found out a few weeks ago that I have been denied. I did an appeal for SSI, but right now I still have no income. I'm unable to apply for work until I have completed the entirety of the treatment plans. The medicines I am on and the reduced capabilities of both my arms make applying for jobs difficult, and I am unable to drive myself to any of the appointments that I have, which always ends up being 3-4 each week.

When I start rehab and radiation each will be every day, Monday through Friday. I still have the Herceptin appointments every 3 weeks, I go in to the plastic surgeon for fills in my expander every 10 days, along with whatever new tests or labs any of the doctors recommend.

I was finally able to have the Pulmonary sleep study (I am finally able to lay down to sleep instead of sleeping in the recliner). I talk to the Pulmonary doctor in a week for the results. I didn't get much sleep during the study. LOL I'm really not good at sleeping anywhere other than home. I'm still trying to get some of the wax out of my hair that they needed to apply for the wires to stick. I had a lot of wires attached and I looked pretty bizarre.

Thank you all for your donations, support, and prayers. Each and every donation helps me tremendously and is greatly appreciated.

Blessings to all of you.

I have now gone through 2 surgeries, the first a bilateral mastectomy along with having the lymph nodes removed under my right arm. The second surgery was to fix an area that the surgeon was concerned that the expander might come through the skin. I've been in a lot of pain since the 2 surgeries and have additional symptoms that medications have been prescribed for. I have painful muscle spasms under my right arm and nerve pain in my right arm. I have Dr appts for Pulmonary and Occupational Therapy too. My Oncologist is highly recommending Radiation treatment because there was still some cancer showing when the first surgery was done. I have the appt set up for the Radiation Consultation. I continue chemotherapy with just the one drug - herceptin for another 7-8 months.

I still have been unable to work, and currently can't drive due to some of the medications I am on. I am very grateful that Jeff and my son, Brian are able to take me to all of these appts I have.

I am truly blessed with my family and friends that have donated and supported me through this difficult time.

I am asking again for additional donations and if you can push my page out to your network.

Lorie has been fighting breast cancer and needs help. She has been undergoing extensive chemotherapy which has made her very sick and weak.

After chemotherapy has been completed, surgery will be scheduled and this will be followed up with radiation treatments. One of the chemotherapy drugs will continue to be administered for 9 months after other scheduled treatments.

Lorie was laid off from her job in April and a month later was diagnosed with 3 separate primary breast cancers. Her unemployment benefits ran out a few months ago and she has been unable to secure new employment due to effects of chemotherapy and prescribed medicines.

The money raised will be used to catch up on mortgage payments in addition to paying for medical treatments, prescriptions, and groceries.
