Personal message from Loraine's dad:

My name is Johann Jordaan. I am the father of a beautiful 10 year old girl, Lorraine, aka Lolla who is currently fighting cancer.

She is an active young girl who enjoys gymnastics, swimming, body boarding and absolutely loves animals. She has had various exotic pets, ranging from little tortoises, birds, snails etc.

Early in March 2020, Lorraine was diagnosed with stage 3 Ewing's Sarcoma which is a type of cancer that forms in bone or soft tissue. A tumor has been growing out of her left 2nd rib bone and collapsed the left lung due to the size of this thing.

She will be receiving chemo every 3 weeks for the next 51 weeks, so we all have a long road to recovery.

At the end of May, Lolla went in for an operation to remove the tumor. The Dr's are happy that the operation was a huge success and that they were able to remove the complete tumor. They also removed a part of the 2nd and 3rd rib bones.

She still needs to receive the remainder of her chemo and will also be going for 6 weeks of radiation.

Another very ugly side of this journey has now hit me very hard. I am sitting with medical bills far in excess of R200k. These will keep on coming as we go on, that I know.

The problem is that I was one of the unfortunate ones to lose my job due to this pandemic, and had very little warning of it in April. Out of the blue, I was notified that my contract will not be extended, and had 2 weeks to wrap everything up.

During the past month of unemployment, I have been applying for available positions in the market and I know that I will be successful in finding a new job. I am in the beginning stages of starting a small IT Services and consulting business, and I believe that there is a big opportunity for me here.

We were planning on doing some fundraising through various activities and institutions, but as you know, we are pretty much locked down, and it will be a very long time before something like that can and will happen.

I am doing this with a very heavy heart and is humbly asking anyone that is willing and able to assist me with a donation, loan or raising funds for our family to assist us ride this wave and make it out the other side. I want to thank the individuals that have selflessly been helping us so far as it is very much appreciated.

I know times are very tough at the moment for everybody and anyone that is able and willing to assist us does it out of love for us as a family.

Thank you so much for the support of our family and friends so far. Without all the prayers, positive energy, numerous calls etc. we would not have been able to deal with it so well. It was devastating news for us all, but we will beat this together!

This campaign will have a huge impact on the well being of my family. We will be able to survive this very uncertain time and Lorraine will continue to receive the best treatment available to beat this ugly disease.

The funds raised will be used for:

* Making sure Lorraine can get to the hospital and back for her future treatments.

* Pay towards the medical bills that keep on accumulating.
