LMSA Medical Mission Trip to The Dominican Republic

I am currently a medical student at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine involved in planning the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) Medical Mission Trip.  LMSA is a student run non-profit organization founded to promote the improvement of healthcare for underprivileged and underserved communities.  To that goal we have been maintaining our sustainable international medical mission trip. 

October 6th-11th, 2013 we will be traveling to a very medically underserved region in the mountains of the Dominican Republic called Jarabacoa.  We will be taking a team of healthcare professionals to provide acute medical care, health education, and preventative medicine.  We will be caring for approximately 1,000 patients, many of whom have never been seen by a physician in their lifetime.  Additionally, we will be giving all patients antiparasitics, vitamins and hygiene products, glasses as necessary, and providing dental fluoride treatments for children.  

This mission trip in October will be our fourth annual trip.  We plan on continuing to visit this region yearly to provide routine care to this very needy population.  However, to achieve these goals we need your help!  We are now collecting donations from local corporations and businesses, USF students and faculty, and others in the community.

Every donation counts and the more funds we acquire, the more we will be able to do for world health.
