Liam’s GSD Journey

Liam was diagnosed with Glycogen Storage Disease Type 1B in March 2018.

In short, his liver lacks the enzyme that is responsible for transporting glycogen (sugar) from the liver to be used as energy. This results in extremely low Blood Glucose levels. Liam needs to eat every 3 hours, day and night. There is not treatment for GSD.

Liam is doing well, but we are struggling to keep tabs on his blood sugar levels. A solution for this is to purchase a Continuous Blood Clucose Monitoring System. The FREESTYLE LIBRE is available to order. The sensors that it works with has lifespan is 14 days, which means that we need a new sensor every 14 days.

I am asking for donations in order for me to purchase the receiver and sensors for 12 months.
