Leya’s Long Wait for Help

For as many times as we have seen it, the suffering that so many of the dogs that come to us go through, brings us to our knees. Leya is one of those dogs <3

This little soul is only 3 years old, but from the horrific condition of her skin, we believe she has suffered with demodex mange for a large part of her life. She is a mere 9 lbs, but is in so much pain, and her skin is so cracked and dry, she cannot even stand up.

She comes to us from a partner shelter where she was on the "24 hour list" after being marked as "antisocial" and a "biter" which we hoped was due to the agonizing pain that she had to be in.

We couldn't let her struggle end on a cold table alone, and so we held our breath and took a chance and placed a hold on Leya and welcomed her to the we are family.

We were not sure we had made the right choice as upon her arrive at Animal Hospital Leya was like a crazed creature alligator rolling on the leash as she knew nothing other than pain from being touched.

We need your help to provide the care that she needs as since she has been suffering for so long and the infection is so deep into her system, Leya will have a long road back.
