Campaign Story
Once Konstantin thought that the creation of forests is only planting. Dug with a shovel, planted a seedling, sprinkled with earth-ready! In fact, everything was not so simple.
Another volunteer of the organization is Emma. She came to the project "Let's revive our forest" in 2018, and only recently got out for planting. Previously, she was engaged in invisible, but very responsible work: she grew seedlings from collected seeds and acorns, participated in the creation of school nurseries, took care of small oak trees and delivered them to the future home.
"For me, the project is like life, with care and an important
mission. After all, to plant does not mean to grow," said
Emma.
Now Nastya also knows that the work on creating a forest
does not end with planting. Future trees need to be cared for,
otherwise very few will survive – and all the work will be wasted.
Saplings need to be mowed down, remove weeds around them – this
requires good brushcutters and trimmers.
All stages of the work take place every year-from spring to autumn. In winter, a team of volunteers stores seeds and plans their activities for the entire next season.
Volunteers grow trees where they are most needed – in the low-forest
zone (south of Moscow), where there are almost no forests left. And
forests are very necessary – to preserve the fertility of the soil and
stop erosion, for the fullness and purity of reservoirs, to create a
habitat and feed base for animals.
