Help me save Mara from cancer!
Mara is the cutest and sweetest Doberman in the world. Now her life is in danger due to cancer.
Her story
I adopted Mara when she was 6 months old. She was found on the street with both her hind legs broken because she was run over by a car. They took her to a shelter where I saw her and fell in love with her. She had surgery to repair her legs and I took her home, where she has lived happily for 8 years.
The Cancer
About a month ago, she started limping and raising her left hind leg. Three different vets saw her, and all of them told us that she had nothing, that it was probably just a sprain. The 4th vet gave us the diagnosis… cancer. Her X-rays shown a mass on her femur, which may be osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a very aggressive, very fast type of bone cancer that can metastasize easily. Mara will most likely lose her left hind leg, but we need help so she doesn't lose her life. Righ now the cancer is on her femur, but it can spread to her hip and be worse. Also it can metastasize quickly and take her life.
About me
My name is Raúl, I’m 35 years old and I am Mara's father. She is like my daughter and has been with me for 8 years. I’m an hotelier and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I find myself unemployed, living with my retired mother, in debt and without the resources needed to help my dog. That is why I resort to crowfunding in order to save a member of the family.
What do we need
First, Mara needs a CT scan to find out the status and dimensions of the cancer. After that, she will need to have surgery to remove the cancer, and her leg might need to be amputated. After the surgery and the pathological exam, the specialist will tell us if she’s going to need chemotherapy.
Please help me so that my dog does not suffer from this disease, help me save her. Let's not let her die.
