Campaign Story
Z left Wyoming feeling inspired
Inspired to be independent, motivated to be well, and ready to feel like a normal man in his 30’s. And it all began with something as simple as a bike.
(September 2018)
It had been months since his last seizure and he had worked incredibly hard at occupational therapy to prepare for his trip to visit his cousin Caitlin in Jackson Hole, WY.
Jackson Hole is home to Teton Adaptive Sports so a session there was a must for Z’s adventure out West. They introduced and trained him to use an awesome adaptive bike, with an even more awesome name: “The Stinger Offroad Recumbent Bicycle”.
As a former collegiate athlete who has battled brain cancer and the side effects from radiation treatments and stroke for over a decade, Z’s lack of mobility has been downright maddening at times. He has felt weighed down by his inability to feel in control of his movements and when he got on this bike...he felt exhilarated...he felt the wind in his hair... he felt happy... he felt free.
This got us thinking, there is a trail just a block from Z’s home in Virginia Beach, and how wonderful would it be for him to have an adaptive bike of his own to train on and be able re-live this positive experience anytime?
Our goal is to give Z more independence, a greater range of motion, and more moments of pure joy with this adaptive bike but we need your help!
Will you help us reach our goal of $7,000 to cover costs of “The Stinger Offroad Recumbent Bicycle” (including taxes, shipping, handling, and gear)?
All donations (no matter how small) will bring us closer to our goal through Thanksgiving 2018.
Love and thanks to Z’s “TRIBE” who have supported him/his family in the past and may be able to chip in for this life-changing adaptive bike.
It takes a village and we appreciate you being a part of it :)
