Lets get Luthando Walking

My name is Luthando, I am a mom on a wheelchair to two wonderful children. I have been using a wheelchair for twenty years and I am an incomplete paraplegic. What that means is that my spinal cord is not completely damaged.

I have been going for physio and biokinetics and they have been helpful but I haven’t had the opportunity to go full scale due to lack of funds. The physio has helped me gain feeling on my legs and the ability to move them a little bit and the biokinetics has also helped me with movement.

I would like to go for intensive physiotherapy for 3 months at least to challenge myself to walk again, my body has been improving but not at the rate that it is supposed to. I could use the medical aid savings but as I have said that I am a mother of two young children, I have to use that towards the kids needs and my everyday medical needs. In short, my medical savings are not enough. Also the South African Medical schemed are not supportive in rehabilitation as an out patient, its all hospital based.

I want to have a long healthy life for my children and I believe that I can walk again. I want to give this opportunity the best shot possible. I strongly believe that I can walk again!!!! My mindset is ready and my body is ready too, however the funds are not that ready and that is why I need your help.

I will be doing my pysio and biokinetics with Just Walk and Pip Physiotherapy.
