Campaign Story
Obesity has always been a struggle in my family. I always felt sad hearing how many of my family members who past away because of this. Growing up I had the thought of having to eat to make myself happy. As I got older I realized it was not the key to happiness. I was bullied as always being obese. I always hated the word "fat". As I got more older and looking forward to college I thought about how I wanted to change my life or make it better. As I graduated in teaching, I noticed I was not the only one who struggled as being bullied. This one day I never noticed how on utube about mentoring. I was always looking at other teacher postings for students on how we can implement better teaching methods. So as I watched I thought to myself why not implement mentoring into teaching or be the role model and show them that we can do anything. Since I was obese or I can say fat now!! Lol, I started a running program at our local elementary school. There was this relay where I was 6 miles. All the runners were 4,5,6 graders and pretty fit for their age. They were all surprised I was going to run and they were like really. So we went off and they took turns running a mile but I kept going. Surprisingly they saw me run the full 6 miles amazed of how big I was but kept moving. When we got to the finish line I was treated with much respect and said that is what a coach is. "Lead by example". So the night before I was reading a book of how as individuals we can dream what we can believe we can be and thus get out there and take action. Having the power as "I" within us to dream....believe....and receive is what we have created to be. As my business logo I want to implement how my logo represents the power within ourselves to accomplish anything if we think these 3 things. So as my accomplishment I took a team of 6 runners to the USATF Cross Country Championships in Myrtle Beach SC which these students have never traveled further in their lives. I told them.."you dreamed of going.....you believed you could run the distance...and now...you took action and lived the dream".
