Let Lorryn Live a Limitless Life

My name is Belinda Nell and I am raising funds to support my sister, Lorryn (31) who has Cystic Fibrosis.

The money raised will go to medical aid expenses to help her receive a new drug that will increase her life expectancy. The medication costs R400 000.00+ depending on the exchange rate. These drugs have the ability to increase a person’s lung function by up to 30%+, thereby enhancing quality of life. A cure is yet to be found. This treatment is life changing. Lorryn has been oxygen dependent since November 2018. As she is no longer a lung transplant candidate, this drug is now her only chance to survive or to help her live beyond expectation.

In 2014, we lost a sibling to Cystic Fibrosis before this medication became available, so our thoughts are filled with – “what ifs.” My father was recently retrenched and since Lorryn relies on my parents for medical expenses, I have taken it upon myself to raise money to help save my sister before time runs out.

I have faith and believe miracles can happen and there is hope but it comes with a price tag and I need help because I cannot do this on my own.

In a nutshell, here are the facts you need to know:

• Cystic Fibrosis is a “rare” genetic disease which primarily affects the lungs and pancreas and a person is born with CF - it is hereditary. The number of CF warriors diagnosed worldwide is increasing - yet awareness is still minimal and the treatment is very very costly, especially for people living in South Africa.
• There new gene therapy treatments which are available on the market today that in a way “halt” the progression of this silent disease. This improves a CF’s life expectancy. CFers are now living their forties, fifties, and older.

The funds will be used towards:
Lorryn's medical aid expenses and shortfalls.

Raising the total amount needed to allow Loz the opportunity to receive the triple therapy.
