On 24 November 2019, a record-breaking number of people turned out to vote in the District Council elections, in which the pro-democracy camp have won a majority number of seats in 17 District Councils. However, at least 5 pro-government candidates have lodged an election petition against the result. In the To Kwa Wan South constituency I serve, the pro-government candidate, despite losing by a 170-vote wide margin, has also launched election petition proceedings at the High Court in attempt to unseat me.

Without support from political party or resourceful organisation likewise, I will be solely responsible for the full legal costs (including fees for solicitor and barrister) in defending against the election petition case, the success of which will lead to the reversal of my election. Up to today, the accumulated payable legal costs incurred for my defence have exceeded HK$150,000.

Under these unfortunate circumstances, I would like to plead for your generous support. All funds raised in this campaign will be put into a dedicated bank account and will be used entirely for paying legal costs related to the court proceedings. All unused funds after the conclusion of the related proceedings will be donated to funds or bodies in support of Hong Kong pro-democracy activists.
