Campaign Story
Layham Village Hall has been at the heart of the community of Layham for over 90 years. Now, however it is badly in need of a new entrance and toilets to make it a more inclusive for a modern village. We need to raise funds to carry out urgently needed modernisation and renovations to keep the hall in the right condition for continued use by everyone in Layham and surrounding towns and villages. The low rental fee of the hall makes it access for many users. Regular users of the hall include ; babies and toddlers, children playgroup, a mens snooker club, elderly lunch and games club, opportunities for deaf community, parish council meetings, polling station , fundraising events for the local church, historical talks, Sunday lunches, first aid and defibulator training,as well as private hire for birthday parties and family events. We designed a questioner, that we circulated to regular usurers for their comments and suggestions. Disabled access needs to be improved and the heating efficiency needs improving and making environmentally sound. The toilets including child friendly ones need modernising and bring up to building regulation standards. Substandard section of walls replacing. And the creation of a warm and inviting lobby to display ‘whats on’ information to help bring our community together.
