Larissa’s Missionary Year

My name is Larissa Mascarenhas. I was born and raised in Mumbai, India and I have just graduated . I have chosen to work as a missionary in London. I am a committed Christian and I have always had the heart for mission. This has led me to want to serve as a missionary for a year and I have now been accepted as an applicant for a year of mission in London. I believe the Lord wants to use me powerfully this year and that he wants to use this year for my formation. The experience I am embarking upon entails going to England and receiving training and serving as a youth missionary. I will be serving with Koinonia, a mission outreach to university students. You are likely asking, why do you need this year? And why in London? I believe giving the Lord this year entirely to receive formation and to serve young people is the least I can do for the blessings I have received. It’s my way of giving back what I have received. Having experienced God’s love so powerfully, only gives me more reason to want to share this experience with others.

Joining the mission program in London will be a great opportunity for me to serve and to learn to evangelize. Less than 1% of London’s university students attend Church once a month. London was also identified in a recent study as being the loneliest place in the UK. There is a desperate need for Christian community to be built amongst students. During my time there I will receive an extensive amount of training in working in this type of environment. I will be trained in Evangelism, Scripture Study, Project Management, and improving as a missionary in my local mission. Alongside that I will get involved in some administration for Koinonia events and other forms of service.

Therefore, since this opportunity has presented itself to me, I have decided to drop everything to respond to the call of the Lord. I write to you, asking for your support. If you are able to contribute financially for my year of training and mission it would be a huge help. I am targeting the amount of £6000 GBP to cover my travel and all other practical needs for the duration of the program.
