We are raising funds to rehabilitate community land in Mkuze, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa to save the elephants in Swaziland from been slaughtered. Carte Blanche,a top investigative television show in South Africa, ran this story in February 2023 (see the clip below). We have earmarked land together with the local community in Mkuze to rehabilitate the land to then introduce wild animals and rescue the Swaziland elephants. To fulfill this vital and monumental task, we need to raise ZAR70 million (approximately USD3,6 million depending on the exchange rate) . The Sibuyele Ekhaya Communal Property Trust will be one of the beneficiaries in this project of a total of 8 000 ha.

What happened in the Pongola Game Reserve and Swaziland?

Over recent months, several elephant carcasses have been discovered along the shoreline of Jozini Dam after a herd of more than 70 elephants went walkabout during a severe drought more than seven years ago.

The herd, originally from the private Pongola Game Reserve, wandered into Swaziland via the shallow lake shores, before returning to South Africa around 2016.

The herd later ran into conflict with rural communities — culminating in the death of a local resident in September 2022, who was trampled by an elephant cow.

The exact circumstances of that incident remain unclear, but it is understood that the cow went on the attack in retaliation for the killing of its calf by elephant poachers.

The funds will go towards the fencing of the land, reintroducing wild animals and building a lodge for tourists to come and visit and explore the beauty of nature.

Please donate and share our story, we would really value your support to stop the slaughter of these elephants and give the herd a safe future.

Further development in the area includes a golf course and residential and retail development. https://soulcare.co.za/property/
