Ky Quang Orphanage Volunteering

Over the next few weeks I will be working alongside other volunteers at Ky Quang, a disabled children’s orphanage. The children have various and often severe learning and physical disabilities, most are unable to walk and communicate. As volunteers we play and entertain the children, and provide personal care. We are raising money to support the orphanage, and to purchase a disabled-access swing for the children, alongside their daily essentials.

These children are living in difficult conditions. With only one room, no bedrooms or bathrooms, and 2 members of staff for 35 children. Recent donations enabled the orphanage to install a water purifying system - previously the children and staff had to drink unclean water. As well as wheelchairs and small bicycles.

Outreach Vietnam is a non-profit organization based in Ho Chi Minh City with the mission of supporting educational development through community involvement after more than 15 years of providng service to the local regions. Outreach Vietnam aids in providing education and care for people in special and often disadvantaged circumstances, including children, people with disabilities, and those who are in need of medical or academic assistance.

The orphanage relies heavily on the support of donations to the pagoda and volunteers. Any money donated will go towards maintaining the orphanage, buying specialist equipment, everyday essential (nappies, food, water, and medicine), and supporting staff. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and passed directly to the charity head.
