On the 13th of September, 2017, fifteen (15) US Marines were wounded when an Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) they were training in at the Camp Pendleton Base in Southern California struck a natural gas main and exploded.
The Marines were involved in a ‘scheduled land-based combat readiness evaluation and battalion training’ when the AAV caught fire at about 9:33 a.m. The armored personnel carrier moved to the side of the road to make way for a passing vehicle. The vehicle’s track ruptured the gas main as it tried to come back onto the road. A spark from inside the AAV likely ignited the gas, sending flames 20 feet into the air.
The 15 injured Marines came from the First Battalion, First Marine Regiment and Third Assault Amphibian Battalion.
Eight of the Marines were directed to the Burn Center at the University of California San Diego Health center, while four others were sent to UC's Irvine Medical Center. From the 12, six Marines were deemed in critical condition and six in serious condition.
Please read the story here:
The Marines need your help here to support the costs of reconstructive surgeries as some of them sustained second and third degree burns. They had burns over more than half of their body. At least six Marines have had skin grafts and are undergoing long-term rehabilitation.
They have undergone the first phase of major surgeries and they need to proceed to subsequent reconstructive surgeries.
The family, friends and colleagues of the wounded Marines based in New York just started this fundraiser to cater for the extra-medical costs of treatment for those injured and other burn victims.
It is imperative for us to also extend a helping hand of charity back to our very own finest and elite military personnel who lose sleep day and night to keep us safe at home and abroad. The US military strives really hard to keep our homeland safe, and that is why we remain the super power of the world.
Please, in your good graciousness, kindly take a moment of your precious time to donate something of considerable value towards this fundraiser according to how much God has blessed your pockets to give, and we pray to God that your pockets will NEVER run dry.
The donations are channeled towards medical costs for the burn victims and will cover sundry costs such as skin grafting, micro surgery, tissue expansion and other reconstruction surgical procedures for Marines and other burn accident victims within the force.
Having to experience and endure a Fire or Burn accident is such a terrible and harrowing experience.
We humbly wish to implore you that you should please help extend some soothing relief towards this burn victims.
Our Marines and their families deserve to receive the well-earned succor they need for their service and sacrifice to our great nation and most cherished Homeland.
