Kim Does #OldLegsTour

The Old Legs Tour:

We ride their bikes to ridiculously far away places to raise money and awareness for Zimbabwe's pensioners.

Our next challenge:

The Zanzibar Tour - a grueling 2700km MTB adventure from Harare to Zanzibar on mountain bikes and kayaks, through some of Africa's most remote and wildest wilderness areas in northern Mozambique and southern Tanzania.

Who? 10 riders, 6 support crew including our oldest rider, Al Watermeyer aged 74.

Why? To raise money and awareness for Zimbabwean pensioners and our chosen charity - The Old Legs Medical Fund.

Target? To save and change lives by providing emergency medical care for needy pensioners.

We were inspired to set up the fund because of the death of an old Zimbabwean chap who bled to death on his kitchen floor after a botched DIY amputation of a foot that went gangrenous because he couldn’t afford the antibiotics that could have and would have saved his life. Since then, we’ve helped and saved dozens and dozens of others. Our interventions are life-changing, and lifesaving. Treatments range from emergency hernia ops to hip and knee replacements and everything in between.

To make our donations go further, we’ve negotiated discounted rates with the doctors and surgeons, but we still have an extensive waiting list.

We need your help.

If you donate, we promise that every cent will be spent on doctors and medical bills, and not a red cent on salaries or admin expenses. The Old Legs is manned entirely by volunteers.

Please help us help others. And please also be invited to follow us on our next adventure in June 2023 when we ride from Harare to Zanzibar on bicycles and kayaks, but please be warned, we ride slow like paint dries, and we paddle even slower.
