So 5 years ago as a family we bought a 1990 T25 VW Campervan, the idea was to go to festivals and spend weekends away camping around the South East & South West. We did this with many happy trips to the South Downs, Glastonbury Festival, Latitude & Wilderness to name but a few.
2 years ago me and my partner split but we both agreed that the van (known as VEG from her number plate) would be the last thing to go in the break up.
Over the last year I have been trying to sell the vehicle but due to her uniqueness (left hand drive and auto transmission) potential buyers were few and far between, my partner had laid out all her savings to buy the van in the first instance and I endeavoured to buy the van back from her for me to be able to take my son Duke on Summer vacations, which we have done for the last 2 years.
This Summer saw me come into enough money that allowed me to do just that, so in July 18 I purchased the van from my ex and set about keeping VEG for my son's (& mine) holidaying pleasure, he's loves the open road and loves camping and the thrill of the unknown, the people you meet while camping and just the pure sense of freedom. Pretty impressive for a 4 year old.
So late July we set off on a 1000 mile trip from London round Devon & Cornwall, we did 10 days together and had a total blast, so it got me to thinking when I returned, I should keep VEG on the road and share her for others to enjoy over the Summer months as I only get chance to get away for a week or so with the odd weekend. In return I could get some finance to complete the cosmetic work needed over the closed season (November to March).
The van is mechanically sound, MOT'd, reliable, drives like a dream, I only trust 1 mechanic to keep her healthy, she camps like a pro but really needs some cosmetic love, so a friend suggested I raise some cash in return for weekends/weeks away in her, complete with a tutorial and a full tank of fuel. Let's go!
VEG is a Westfalia pop top who will sleep up to 4 people, 2 downstairs on the rock n roll bed and 2 upstairs, best for kids not big uns.
She comes with an electric hook up lead , kettle, gas back up for hob, x 4 chairs, table, internal storage and captains chairs (swivel front seats).
She has a 2.1 injection engine, so hills ain't a problem, she also runs on petrol and unlike most VW's of her age doesn't leak oil or water ;-)
