Kaylah’s first trip overseas

My name is Kaylah, I am 22 years old and I am hoping to fly over to England for my very first overseas trip.

I have been a Travel & Tourism Management student for the last 3 years, currently paying off my hefty student loans, whilst working at a lovely guesthouse in Cape Town. I have had to move closer to work, and have been living off a very tiny paycheck - where more than half of it goes to rent and my loans. Unfortunately, being a student and having to pay off my student loans, I haven't been able to save up enough money to treat myself to my very first overseas trip.

I don't consider this trip to be all fun and games, my intention to travel has always been a learning experience for me - hence the reason why I studied tourism. I hope to scout around and find opportunities for myself, to better myself, and one day help someone else too. In saying that, I hope to open my own guesthouse one day, outside of South Africa, and give students the opportunity to work on an internship program with me, and ultimately have hands-on experience on how to run a small business, as I myself know how difficult it is as a South African to reach outside of ones own country for better opportunities - especially when lack of money is the main prevention.

I haven't had time off from work to "get away", however, things have changed and I have the chance to do so this May/June. I have been given this opportunity, and it would be incredibly disappointing should I watch it pass me by.

It has been my number one goal to travel to England. I have dreams about it, fantasied about it, and even on occasion, present a very close English accent to those who wish to be entertained - the Queen would consider it darling. :)

I have met my wonderful, English boyfriend here in Cape Town a few years ago, and together we have been trying to raise funds for my trip to his country. It saddens me that even through fundraising, we're still short and time is of the essence. :(
