Campaign Story
In October of this year(2018), I will celebrate my 40th birthday. I set a goal a while ago that seemed rather easily attainable but somehow I've yet to check it off my list. I want to ride my bike across the Katy trail before I'm 40. The Katy trail is a Rails to Trails project that runs east-west across the state of Missouri. I've been involved with R2T in the past and ridden many of the great former rail lines that are now hiking/biking paths. In all of my rides, I still haven't made my way across the Katy; well that's about to change. In September 2018 I plan on hoping on my bike and pedaling the full length(out and back). I'll start in St. Louis(St. Charles) and ride across to Clinton, MO before returning east. The entire trail is closed to motor vehicles and is likely more bike-friendly than anywhere I've ever ridden. Before embarking on this journey I realized I'll need to upgrade a few things(bike, panniers, racks, camp gear, + accounting for time off work, etc.). Any contributions towards helping me reach my goal would be greatly appreciated. Every dollar over what I need will go to charity. For those who would prefer to not be bothered by charities, rest easy, the donations will be in my name. The two charities in mind are listed below as well as a link to Katy trail info. Please take the time to check them all out and drop a few bucks towards them and me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
