Campaign Story
As colleagues we are outraged by the treatment of Nurse Izzy (Isabel Amaro) whom we believe was unjustly convicted of gross negligence manslaughter and has had her nursing career taken from her. We feel she was an easy target in an unjust system where nurses are regularly used and abused on hospital wards. Izzy had to spend 2 months in a HMP and has suffered extreme ill health as a result of the stress she has been placed under. We are deeply sorry for the tragic death of a child and would like to see justice for him and to protect patients from harm through addressing systemic failures not targeting individual HCPs.
Izzy has serious health issues. She is in receipt of housing benefit and ESA , which covers rent, but she is in thousands of £££ in debt incurred during the time she was suspended, couldn’t work, and couldn’t claim benefits.
Izzy used all her savings and was sent to prison for 2-3 month in 2014, a period during which she was unable to receive benefits and pay the rent for her flat. There are also outstanding legal fees from that time.
We are raising funds to help her have money to pay for basic needs, so she does not live in fear of being unable to pay bills and buy food. Her laptop is her lifeline but it is old, and it would be good for her to be able to replace that, should it become irreparable. This is an example of what she could use funds for.
Izzy is overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the love and support she has finally received. We are hoping to support her for as long as possible, so that her life may be easier, and she can live without fear.
