Joe & Joan’s Wedding Fund

Hello Kind People,

My name is Joseph. For the past 7 years I have struggled through various issues in my life, from losing several jobs due to the economy, to battling with an addiction that threatened to tear apart my family. 4 and a half years ago, I met a girl who changed my life forever. Her name is Joan, she came to England from Zimbabwe as a refugee when she was only 7 years old. Since then, she has blossomed into a beautiful woman, attending university in Manchester and astounding crowds with beautiful pieces of poetry she has written.

Our Issues

I met Joan in 2010, and we fell in love not long after. During our first couple of years together, I battled with addiction, which she pulled me through, giving me a new lease on life. She was always at my side, even during my worst times, including several relapses. In truth, she saved my life. I was in all sorts of trouble with gangs and violence. Not long after we moved into a flat together, her father died back in Africa. We could not afford to visit him, and she didn't even get chance to say goodbye. It broke her heart, and in turn, broke mine. I promised her that one day we would go back to South Africa and visit her family.

Our Wedding

On the 5th May 2014, I proposed to Joan. She agreed immediately, and, although her ring cost less than your average takeaway, she could not have been happier. As we started to plan the wedding, we found that everything was well out of our price range, we can barely afford a venue. Luckily, my family were there to support us, but we barely had enough to cover base costs,  and I feel she deserves so much more for the love, care and passion she has not just shown me, but has shown to the community we live in. Any money raised would fund the beautiful wedding I want to give her, from the rings, to her dress, and a honeymoon back to Africa, so that we can she her family again after 14 years. But truly anything more than we have now would be a blessing.  

My Promise

Any person who can give to our wedding would be a saint in my heart. I know that I don't deserve the wedding of my dreams, but she certainly does. So please, give anything you can. I will provide any donators with pictures from our wedding, so you can see the effects of your donations.
