Japan Post-Typhoon On-Site Support

Update posted by GREGORY SMITH On Nov 09, 2019

Although I’ve seen many signs of the damage from the typhoon since arriving, today was the first day actually working on site. The location was a 300-year-old sake brewery in Sano city, Tochigi prefecture. The levees around the local river were overtopped and the entire area was flooded. Once the waters receded, 20cm or more of thick, heavy clay-like mud was left covering everything. Our task today was to remove this from the grounds.

Here is a video of the breech that flooded this area: https://youtu.be/kF3PcI83x-4
