Campaign Story
Greetings!
Hello, and thank you for your interest in our journey! My husband is 46, a power operator professional, and a Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army Reserve. I’m Candace, 41, and an Operations professional in the technology industry. We met in August of 2015 after both being single for many years . The day we met there was an earthquake at sunrise, just as my husband happened across my online profile. If you ask us, we believe that earthquake was not just a geological event, but a blessing from above finally answering our prayers for one another. After a blossoming friendship and many adventures, we were married as of August 2017. Have we piqued your interest? If so read on!
Why IVF?
During my husband’s first marriage he and his ex-wife sadly had an extremely traumatic pregnancy. During that pregnancy, mom had severe pre-eclampsia, and he had to make very difficult life and death decisions that very well could have resulted in losing both mom and baby. I am happy to say that they did have a beautiful little girl, who just turned 19 years old and is thriving in college despite her Cerebral Palsy which was a result of the pre-eclampsia. At that time, the doctors advised him and his ex-wife to not have any more children as mom would most likely not survive, so they proceeded with a vasectomy. Despite best efforts the marriage dissolved several years later.
As for myself, I too was married in my early twenties for some time. I always knew I was called to motherhood. However, I come from a blended family a couple of times over, so I also felt strongly that I wanted to be sure I was marrying my best friend before having children. I’ve finally met and married that man.
So here we are today, 46 and 41`years old, ready to embark on our next adventure. We have met with fertility specialists, and they have recommended that due to our ages, we skip attempting a vasectomy reversal and pursue the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) route directly.
Why crowdfunding?
The cost of IVF through Kaiser in California is $35,000.00 USD for one cycle This breaks down to $25k IVF for the treatment plus $10k for age related genetic testing. Unfortunately, my husband’s military health coverage doesn’t cover fertility treatments unless they are a result of injury incurred during service.
Many thanks!
Our dream is to start a family together, but the IVF treatments are costly. If you feel so inclined, we’d be forever grateful for any financial assistance you might feel called to give and to help us reach our goal of having a baby. Whether you choose to make a gift of any amount, or not, we are grateful for your love and support on our journey!
