Hi my name is Ric Stocks, ive been with my wife Vicky for 5 happy years. And we have been trying for a child together for 5 years... And this is my story. firstly i have a son, Jabe he was born in 2004, his birth was a hard one as he has hydrocephalus, the first 3 months was spent living in hospital whilst he had numerous operations on his brain, those was the hardest times of my life. there are some things you cant imagine even when described unless you go through them yourself, i used to have to hold jabe really really tight as a doctor inserted a needle into his brain to drain fluid, jabe used to scream, the nurse could not do it, she left the room crying, but this was my son and as much as it hurt he needed this, so i was their for him. i had to sign consent papers for his operations saying that i understand there may be a complication and my son may not survive the operation which he needed to survive and every scratch of pen on paper was like a thousand knifes going through my heart. eventually one of the operations was a success, he now had a shunt fitted he was not out of the woods but we had a map to the exit, over the years he has had to have regular MRI's that he would only stay still for if i was present, the times was hard but we have built a bond like no other father and son. unfortunately soon after jabes first birthday his mum fell pregnant to another man. you hear all the stories about the man in the relationship being unfaithful but not so many about the woman, and guess what i had no rights when it came to my son. with this i lost everything, my partner, my son, my home, my life ended. After a court battle i now see Jabe 7 days out of 14 but still now 10 years later i break down when he leaves my care. i met Vicky, my wife when Jabe was 5 i had been single since jabes mum left, dedicating all my life to when i got to see my son, living for those moments, but Vicky changed everything. She truly is my soul mate and makes the best mum to jabe in the world, even though its only part time. We moved in together quickly and soon we began trying for our own child. Vicky always wanted to have a child, playing games with her sisters walking around when she was little with a pillow up her jumper, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would reply, A mummy! But 5 years later we still have not had our baby. We went to the doctors and i have a very low sperm count, less than 3 million per inch, the doctor has told us that chance of a natural conception is all but Zero and IVF or adoption would be our only option, i know how much Vicky wants to carry the baby its all she has ever longed for so we first looked into IVF, their is government help with the costs here in the uk. But NOT if you already have a child. it does not matter that i only have him part time, it does not matter it was not my fault, it does not matter that me and Vicky do not have a child together they will not help us. i dont ask the government for a penny, im on a low wage but all the bills get paid and there is always a healthy home cooked meal on the table, i always say i may not have money for flash things but i have time to spend which is much more valuable to a child. As more and more time is passing its getting harder and harder, so much more when jabe goes. the house becomes so empty. im 38 years old, Vicky is 27 please help us to complete our family. For once can a nice guy win
