IVF Journey

This is where our journey begins...

We got married in August 2016. Happily married and decided to start a family. I stopped taking contraceptives and we were so excited to start our family. A year goes by and still no baby. Went to the gynecologist and recieved bad news. He told me I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) I went on medication for 8 months and still no luck.

We've decided to get a second opinion. We then went to see Dr M Giesteria @ Wilgeheuwel Hospital. He made me feel comfortable and gave me hope. After the first appointment he send me to do a HSG test (Hysterosalpingography). The results came back with heartbreaking news. Both my Fallopian tubes were blocked. Too blocked for Tubal Cannulation surgery.

So here we are on our own IVF Journey. Medical aid does not cover any Fertility Treatments so we need to raise the R56 000 ourselves.

When the doctor told me that I was infertile, I was consumed by shame. By hearing that you as a woman is infertile, is one of the worst nightmares. This is a big step for me and my husband to make this public, but nothing to be ashamed of. It would be a privilege to have the love of my life in my womb and my other half beside me. The only thing we can do now is to make peace with our situation and leave it in God's hands.

The total costs of the IVF procedure are R70 000 but if we pay all the money at once we get 20% discount. That is why our target is R56 000
We have a savings account for the IVF Funding.
We are trying to raise the R56 000 by May. If we don't reach our target, we will still keep on saving from our side.
