Help Pay Tuition at VCU

Hello family and friends! This is Eletha and I am in need of donations to help pay my tuition at VCU this coming Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters. Many of you may not know that I was recently accepted into VCU's Radiation Sciences program. A few years ago I decided I needed a career change to help achieve a better life for my family and I. Currently I work as a Therapy Rehab Tech working with patients of many ages, stages and abilities. I can definitely say this type of work really fostered my desire to pursue a career in healthcare. But what did I want to do? What would be my destiny? Nursing? Speech/ Physical/Occupational Therapist?? I researched many careers and spoke to many others of various roles in healthcare including my coworkers. One day I met a pair of wonderful healthcare professionals who happened to be Radiologic Technologists and to put it simply, a light bulb came on. These ladies were very informative and I'm grateful that they were willing to share their knowledge with me. I prayed for more guidance and I can honestly say that it couldn't have been nobody but God who has led my path through this whole process as he's opened so many doors I thought were closed or didn't even know existed if you know what I mean. I worked hard to get A+ prerequisite course work, apply to VCU's Radiation Sciences program and ultimately rocked the entrance interview all while working full time and caring for my family. VCU accepted me into the program and I am so grateful and happy to be starting this journey. The program is 3 years in length and awards a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiation Sciences with a concentration in Radiography. I have some financial aid assistance however much of this is in the form of loans. I can only borrow so much so the rest must come out of pocket. I am still working part time now in preparation for school starting very soon. This income will be just enough to cover healthcare benefits and not much more.

I am so excited to be starting my journey to becoming a Radiologic Technologist, furthering my healthcare career and building a better life for my family and I.
