I am a survivor

I survived.. From the age of 10-15 I was sexually abused by a family member and experienced a lot of hardship throughout high school due to this event. After taking my perpetrator to court and many ongoing meeting with counselors and attorneys at the age of 15-17, I barely graduated high school. Deciding to try and keep myself above the water, I continued on to my Freshman year of community college where quarters later, I still found myself distracted and unmotivated by my outside life and failing all my classes. Although I failed to keep myself focused my first year of college, I had learned many things from my mistakes. Still surviving.. Two years later, here I am today now registering for classes to attending for spring semester over at St. John's University in Queens, New York to pursue my Hospitality degree :) The past two years have very much been a work in progress; I have taken a full load of classes for 3 summers now along with full loads during the normal school year. The most recent summer I achieved a 3.85 GPA along with working 30-40 hours a week! My mother is a single parent of 3 kids so financially I carry the financial weight for myself to help relieve some stress off of her back but now that we are in the process of payment for this upcoming semester in New York, we need just a little extra support. Any donations would be going DIRECTLY to tuition, fees, books, and dorm living to help me get through the rest of my 2 years over at St. John's.    After everything that I have encountered so far in my lifetime, I find that my drive and motivation have only increased over time and still continue to. I believe that if I can overcoming such an unfortunate event in my life and having to face my perpetrator time after time in court, then anything is achievable now!
