My name is Victoria, I left the Bahamian Island of Nassau on Saturday 31/09/2019 due to category 5 hurricane Dorian closely approaching. Myself and my partner were lucky to have the option to leave and reach safety in Philadelphia before we returned back to England. On record, this is the most devastating hurricane to ever hit the Bahamas. We realised that people of the Bahamas are unable to go anywhere as the nearest point of safety (Florida) is likely to be hit also. We watched residents boarding up their homes, closing down their businesses and emptying supermarket shelves by stocking up on nonperishable food items, gasoline for back up generators and water as they prepared for this devastating natural disaster. The Bahamas import most of their food & goods from America so they are likely to run out as even the police don’t feel that it is safe to go to the islands at this current moment.

This page is an independent reach out for help. After contacting the Red Cross it is apparent that no specific page has been set up to help and assist the people of the Bahamas who’s homes have been destroyed and who’s lives are in severe danger. I am setting this page up with the hope of raising funds and awareness for the Bahamian residents.

We will be sending funds to Bahamian resident Tangela Morgan (our former Airbnb host and now good friend) who will ensure that the proceeds get distributed around the islands or go to local Bahamian charities.

DONATION UPDATE

Hurricane supplies will be sent through Quinty Sears Ministry. Our lovely friend and Bahamian resident - Tangela Morgan will be purchasing supplies from the wholesalers on 11/09/2019 and supplies will be divided between Quinty Sears Ministry and Coverdent Baptist Church.

So far, supplies have been divided between the two organisations, we are hoping to keep this page open for a little longer so that we can reach our original target! Our work so far has been incredible and has gone a long way, any further proceeds will be donated to Quinty Sears Ministry to assist in a huge hurricane relief project that they are working on.

Thank you so much for your time and kindness during this sad time. No donation is too big or small, anything will help.
